One of our recent installs featured a solid setup: a Sungrow 15kW three-phase hybrid inverter, paired with 30kWh of modular battery storage and a generous 15.4kW solar array using high-efficiency panels. So, How’s It Performing?

Let’s talk real numbers, not just spec sheets.

Even on overcast Brisbane days, we’ve been seeing 4–5kW of production — more than enough to cover the home’s morning load and begin topping up the battery. On clearer days, it’s shining: producing well over 40kWh, sometimes even reaching 60kWh, and keeping that battery charged while still feeding excess back to the grid.

We’ve tracked things like how the battery discharges overnight (to keep running appliances, heating, etc.), then quickly recharges with the morning sun — often before midday.

It’s doing exactly what we want it to do: taking the home off-grid for most of the day and night, while reducing the customer’s grid draw to near-zero.

Day in the Life of the System

Here’s a quick rundown of what a typical winter day looks like:

• Early morning: The battery powers the home, including heating and early risers boiling kettles or starting the washing machine.
• Mid-morning: As the sun climbs, the system begins replenishing the battery and running the household simultaneously.
• Afternoon: Battery hits full charge. Extra solar production goes straight into the grid.
• Evening: Battery kicks back in as the sun goes down. Lights, cooking, entertainment — all covered.

The result? On one sample day, the system used just 2kWh from the grid, sold back over 20kWh, and the battery handled both ends of the day like a champ.

Beating the Estimates

We always try to keep our production estimates conservative — there’s nothing worse than over-promising.

For this setup, our projection for August was about 47kWh/day. In reality? It’s averaging 63kWh/day, which is about 35% more than expected. That’s not just luck — it’s a sign of quality components working well together.
